ECG chest strap

ECG chest straps are used to record ECG during exercise and are popular with joggers. Here, we compare the standard Einthoven II ECG with that of a chest strap. This has the advantage that we have no cable artefacts, in particular when the amplifier is directly mounted in the strap. Muscle activity is also so low that even during jogging still ECG peaks can be detected. The ECG from the chest strap has a bi-phasic shape and is perfect for R peak detectors such as matched filters. However, the ECG is measured roughly between V1 and V2 and has therefore a non-standard shape.

Recorded with the Attys and attys-scope with Python heartrate detector under Windows.
